Tenebrite measures what you know concept by concept and notices when something starts to fade. It hands what it knows to the tutor as a briefing before you type a word.

Each quiz has ten questions: seven multiple choice and three written scenarios graded against the concept list. Every question belongs to one concept, so you get a score per concept, not one number for the whole subject. The answers stay on our servers until you submit.

Every concept you’ve been quizzed on gets a next review date: 1 day out, then 3, 7, 14, 30 and 60, sooner when the score was weak. When one comes due it shows on your dashboard and in the tutor, where a one-question quick review keeps it fresh. Your next quiz on that subject asks about it too, and the tutor is told so it can work it into your next lesson.

We test how the tutor behaves.
The tutor’s instructions are checked against written test cases. A separate model grades each reply on the one behaviour its case is about, and that grader is itself checked against hand-written answers before its verdicts count.
Each of these has its own test case:
- Guides you toward an answer instead of just handing it over.
- Says when it isn’t sure, and doesn’t invent sources.
- Corrects a false premise instead of building on it.
- Teaches subjects like pharmacology and contract law without handing out doses or legal advice.
- Stops the lesson when someone sounds like they’re in crisis.
- Ignores instructions hidden in task titles, task notes or subject descriptions.

Isn’t this just an AI chat app with a different name?
The tutor runs on AI models from an outside provider, named in Section 7 of our Privacy Policy. What Tenebrite adds is the record around it: a score for every concept you’re quizzed on, a review date for each one, and a briefing that hands all of it to the tutor every time you write.
What happens if I use up the AI allowance?
The tutor, quizzes and other AI features pause until the allowance resets on the 1st of the month. Everything else keeps working: your subjects, tasks, notes, planner and focus sessions. If you’d rather not wait, add your own API key in Settings and keep going without a limit.
What can I study with it?
Anything you can describe in a sentence and be tested on: a language, a course you’re taking, a skill for work. You can have up to six subjects at once.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from Settings, at any time. You keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. If you cancel within 7 days of your first charge and have used less than 40% of the AI allowance, you can ask for your money back.
